"Why I Walked Out of Church"

Julie R. Neidlinger explains, "Why I Walked Out of Church." Although her language is at times a bit coarse, I believe the points she makes are right on target.

When a church tries to be trendy and ride the pop cultural wave, it becomes irrelevant - at least to those who seek in the church seriousness, reverence, and a sense of connection with the wisdom of previous generations of God's people. If a church is swept along by the fads of contemporary culture, then it lacks a stable vantage point from which to identify and assess the idols of our age.

Ms. Neidlinger is at her best when she describes how the church frequently inhibits the maturation of its young members.
